November 01, 2021 "Do not download" the 'pirate' Green pass verification apps.

This is the recommendation of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data which has decided to "launch an investigation on apps that are not up to date, reserving the appropriate interventions to protect users".

"Several producers and developers, also from other countries, explains the Authority - have made available on the online stores apps for verifying the Green pass that allow those who download them, by framing the QR Code, to read personal data such as name, surname, date of birth but even doses or buffers carried out. In some cases the apps also require a registration for the download and transfer the data to third parties ".

The Data Protection Authority "warns all users against downloading these apps, which process data in violation of the provisions of the law, which establish that the VerificationC19 app, issued by the Ministry of Health, is the only verification of green certifications that can be used to guarantee people's privacy ".
