Before embarking on a long journey on foot or by bike, some people prefer to take a dextrose or glucose pill with them, to use in case they start to feel a loss of energy before reaching the end of the road.

But experts say this is a false friend and should be avoided while walking or cycling, even if it seems like a last resort that might one day save you.

This is because this simple sugar will not make you feel full but will make you hungrier, as it initially causes the blood sugar level to rise sharply and then suddenly drops, causing the user to collapse even more.

For bike trips and long walks, it is preferable to take more sandwiches, as they will fill the body with fast-acting carbohydrates.

Some additives will help provide the body with energy, but things that are sensitive to heat should be avoided.

This applies to fish, cold meats and some types of cheese, as all of the above can develop spores quickly.

You can try taking some fresh fruits and vegetables, such as a mixture of tomatoes, cucumbers and some carrots, which are easy to carry and eat.

Dried fruits or bananas and some grapes will satisfy any sweet craving.

Nuts are also a good snack.

And we must not forget the full water bottle.

And if one wants to drink juice instead of water, it is preferable to dilute it a little to reduce the consumption of sugar, which is a large amount in the juice.

A good mixture is as follows: a pot of juice and 3 times more than water.
