Autumn grain is the last season of China's annual grain production. The latest agricultural situation control by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that at present, the country's autumn grain harvest is nearly 90%, and the annual grain harvest is a foregone conclusion.

The annual grain output will hit a record high again, which is a highlight of this year's grain production.

This year, the three seasons of summer grain, early rice, and autumn grain all achieved an increase in output.

Among them, the output of summer grain increased by 5.93 billion jin to 291.6 billion jin, a record high.

The output of early rice increased by 1.45 billion jin to 56 billion jin, achieving two consecutive years of increase in production.

At present, the harvest of autumn grain has been achieved, and the increase in production is a foregone conclusion.

This year, China has had another bumper harvest of grain throughout the year, achieving a bumper harvest for 18 consecutive years of grain production.

Li Guoxiang, a researcher at the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences: This year, China’s grain production has overcome the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, floods and heavy rains and extreme disasters. The overall situation played a very important role.

Food security, the party and government are responsible for the planting area steadily and increasing

To ensure food security, the most important thing is to protect the area.

This year, from the central to the local level, a series of high-gold policy measures have vigorously mobilized the enthusiasm of local governments and farmers to grow grain. The grain sown area has increased steadily throughout the year, laying the foundation for China's 18-year continuous harvest of grain.

This year, the central government has included grain output in its macroeconomic control targets for the first time, requiring production to be maintained at more than 1.3 trillion catties; for the first time, the party and government have been responsible for food security, requiring local party committees and governments at all levels to shoulder the political responsibility for food security.

At the same time, the central government has awarded 48.2 billion yuan to large grain-producing counties to mobilize the enthusiasm of local governments to focus on grain production.

In order to protect the interests of farmers in growing grain, this year, the central government allocated 120.5 billion yuan in subsidies for the protection of arable land, and issued a one-time subsidy of 20 billion yuan to actual grain farmers to cope with the impact of rising prices of agricultural materials.

And arrange subsidies for corn and soybean producers and 59.5 billion yuan for rice subsidies to increase the minimum purchase price for wheat and the minimum purchase price for early and mid-late indica rice.

A series of powerful combination punches effectively ensured the grain sown area.

In Huoqiu, Anhui, a large grain-producing county, the local government invested 20 million yuan this year, with a subsidy of 40 yuan per mu, to promote new varieties of rice on a large scale, and to achieve the goal of cultivating all kinds of rice.

Li Jibao, a major grain grower in Taohua Village, Huhu Town, Huoqiu County, Anhui Province: Every household in our family is fully planted, and there is not a single piece of abandoned land.

Like my home, I can't bear to discard one or two fields, and I plant them all.

This can really see benefits, like my family’s 40 acres of land, this year at least 80,000 yuan income, I am very happy.

In the whole country, the sown area of grain has increased this year.

The area of summer grain increased by 3.982 million mu, reversing the downward trend for five consecutive years, and achieved recovery growth for the first time; the area of early rice remained stable on the basis of the substantial increase last year; the area of autumn grain also increased steadily, especially the area of high-yield corn. This laid a solid foundation for the expected high-level increase in grain production throughout the year.

Anti-pest pests return to the warehouse to reduce losses, high yields and good harvests

This year, while the central government is steadily increasing grain production capacity, reducing grain harvest and production losses is also an important way to increase production. What are the highlights in this regard?

The latest agricultural dispatch shows that more than 90% of autumn grains have been harvested in the main production areas of Huanghuaihai.

At the 10,000-mu high-quality corn demonstration base in Guanyin Temple, Xinzheng, Henan, the continuous rainy days caused high soil moisture, making it difficult for ordinary harvesters to get off the ground.

The cooperative responsible for the production and trusteeship of this piece of land timely transferred the crawler harvester and carefully adjusted the operation method to minimize the loss of the machine harvest.

Li Jie, chairman of the Henan Xintiandi Planting Specialized Cooperative: Harvesting this piece of land can lose 50 kilograms per mu.

We plant the direct-harvest varieties, which reduces the five or six steps of threshing and drying, and can also save 50 to 60 jin, and this acre can reduce 100 jin.

This year, reducing losses and improving quality and efficiency is a highlight of the whole year's grain production.

In order to promote effective loss reduction in the harvesting process, the central government accelerated the replacement of combine harvesters this year. The subsidy for agricultural machinery update was expanded from pilot areas to the whole country. Agricultural machinery operators were trained on loss reduction operations before harvesting, achieving a loss of 2.5 billion in wheat harvest. The mechanical harvest of early rice has reduced nearly 500 million jin. Today, the mechanical harvest reduction technology of autumn grain is also widely used in major producing areas, and the annual loss rate of mechanical harvest of grain will be reduced by about 1% compared with normal years.

In the production link, major diseases and insect pests are recurring this year. The state has increased green prevention and control, unified prevention and control, and joint prevention and joint control, which not only promotes the reduction of pesticides and increases efficiency, but also effectively prevents the occurrence of pests and diseases.

The diseased ear rate of wheat is controlled within 3%; early rice has achieved remarkable results in fighting disasters and ensuring a good harvest, and disaster losses have been minimized.

In addition to the reduction in output of autumn grain due to floods and heavy rains in some areas, most of the main producing areas have achieved bumper harvests and increased production.

This year, the annual grain output has remained above 1.3 trillion catties for seven consecutive years.
