The Philippines is a Catholic country, and Halloween is also the country’s "Day of the Dead." According to tradition, people go to the cemetery to remember their ancestors.

Due to the epidemic, the Philippine government closed the cemetery from October 29 to November 2 this year and encouraged people to pray at home; however, many people still went to the cemetery to worship their ancestors in advance.

Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, more than 43,000 people in the Philippines have died due to the epidemic, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases exceeds 2.79 million.

As of the end of October, the Philippines had received more than 55 million doses of the new crown vaccine, and nearly 50% of the population had received at least one dose.

OCTA expert David, an independent research institute in the Philippines, reported on October 30 that the COVID-19 positive rate in Metro Manila has dropped to 5%, reaching the “acceptable” level set by the WHO.

This is the first time since July 14 that the positive rate in Metro Manila has dropped to 5%.

At the same time, the biweekly infection rate has dropped to 0.55, and the utilization rate of medical resources has fallen below 60%, which is in a low-risk state.

The Metro Manila region will still implement the three-level alert before November 15. At the same time, tourism, catering and other industries have been opened to fully vaccinated people, and social and economic life has gradually returned to normal.

According to a report from the Philippine Ministry of Health on November 1, the Philippines has newly confirmed 3117 cases and 104 new deaths in a single day.
