A man wielded a weapon and set fire on a Tokyo subway train, injuring 17 people.

According to local media such as NHK, yesterday (31st) at around 8 pm at the Keio Railway Station in Tokyo, Japan, a man dressed as the movie character 'Joker' engaged in a knife attack and set fire in a running train.

A video filmed by a citizen at the scene captures the tense moment at the time.

When the man's sword began, the passengers who fled in confusion, gathered in one side of the cabin, moved to another, and escaped through the window of the emergency stop train.

Black smoke and red flames rose from behind the passengers, and the suspect remaining at the scene was arrested by the police as a current offender.

A 24-year-old man with an unknown job is said to have stated during a police investigation that he "wanted to kill people and be sentenced to death."

The man targeted the express train that was difficult to escape because the distance between the station and the Halloween day, when passengers were expected to flock, was far away, and it is known that he made a statement to the effect of admiration for the 'Joker' makeup.

Authorities said that a man in his 70s who was stabbed in the incident was in critical condition, and the remaining 16 were being treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation.
