When the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) recently remarked that Tesla CEO Elon Musk's 2% fortune could solve the global hunger problem, Musk responded, "Give me a justification."

Musk tweeted on the 31st of last month, "If I can accurately describe on Twitter how WFP can solve world hunger with $6 billion, I will sell Tesla stock and donate it right away. " he wrote.

“However, the WFP must ensure that the public can know where the donations are used by transparently disclosing their accounts,” he added.

Earlier, WFP Secretary-General David Beasley mentioned in an interview with CNN on the 26th of last month that the world's first and second richest people, Musk and Jeff Bezos, said, "Many countries are suffering from famine due to crises such as climate change or the COVID-19 pandemic." He said, "Billionaires should come forward now. With 2% of Musk's fortune, we can solve the global hunger problem."

2% of Musk's fortune is roughly $6 billion, or about $7.65 trillion. Elon Musk recently surpassed $300 billion in fortune, establishing himself as the world's richest man.

Meanwhile, foreign media such as CNBC in the US have criticized Musk for being passive in donations compared to wealthy people such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

In January, Musk responded, "I always appreciate critical feedback about me," but said, "Making real changes through donations is harder than it looks."

This is a 'news pick'.
