The Mayor of Nagano election, in which five newcomers fought, was the gold medalist of the Winter Olympics, and Kenji Ogiwara, a former member of the House of Councilors, won the election for the first time.

Mr. Ogiwara won the election for the first time in the Mayor of Nagano election, which was a fierce election campaign with five newcomers.



Mr. Ogiwara is 51 years old from Gunma prefecture.

He won the gold medal for two consecutive Winter Olympic Games in the Olympic ski and Nordic combined group, and then served as a member of the House of Councilors for one term.



In the election campaign, he appealed for the enhancement of sports and child-rearing environment, and gained support.
