Former Minister of Home Affairs Takeshi Noda of the Liberal Democratic Party, who has been elected 16 times in a row, is certain to lose the election in Kumamoto 2nd district.

Mr. Noda is 80 years old.

He was elected for the first time in the House of Representatives election in 1972, and has been elected 16 times in a row, serving as Minister of Home Affairs and chairman of the party's tax system investigation.

In the election campaign, Mr. Noda appealed for his efforts to secure the reconstruction budget for the Kumamoto earthquake five years ago and to deploy the vaccine for the new corona, aiming for the 17th election. It was not as good as the independent newcomer Daisuke Nishino.

Mr. Noda has not run for proportional representation twice, so he is sure to lose.
