Emirates Health Services launches the "Pink Shield" app to promote breast cancer awareness

The Emirates Foundation for Health Services launched the “Pink Shield” smart application to raise awareness of breast cancer, in conjunction with the international month of October to raise awareness of breast cancer, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, with the aim of raising awareness among members of society and health empowerment of the importance of early detection of breast cancer to enhance prevention and diagnosis, which leads to prompt curative intervention.

The application, which is available in both Arabic and English, contains basic information and knowledge that allows raising awareness of diseases among women at risk of developing breast cancer, and supporting guidelines that allow directing patients diagnosed in the early stage of the disease.

Dr. Youssef Mohammed Al Serkal, Director General of the Emirates Foundation for Health Services, confirmed that breast cancer is among the priority diseases that the Foundation has programs and initiatives as part of its keenness to develop preventive and curative health services to reduce cancer incidence in the country according to the national indicator and contribute to strengthening national efforts to combat cancer. Breast cancer, as part of the national policy to reduce cancer mortality rates.

He pointed to the Foundation's keenness to use modern technologies that benefit from medical data to develop innovative models for patient care in the face of the disease, limit its spread, and give breast cancer patients more support and hope in a way that enhances the efforts and position of the Foundation at the local and regional levels in the field of breast cancer.

For her part, Dr. Sarah Al-Shaya, Head of Operations Planning and Project Manager, explained that the application is part of the Foundation's plans to raise public awareness of breast cancer and promote a healthy lifestyle, which contributes to increasing the rate of early detection and reducing the rate of infection with the disease, noting that the application contains comprehensive information on educating patients about Breast cancer risk factors, self-examination, diet, and the latest medical publications, articles, and guidelines.
