Senegalese civil society is also embarking on the race for the local municipal and departmental elections of January 23, 2022. Several personalities met within the new opposition coalition Jàmmi gox yi ("The peace of the territories"), launched on Friday October 29 in the evening.

Among them, Fadel Barro, one of the co-founders of the Y'en a marre movement, Rose Wardini, who works in the social sector, or Olivier Boucal, inspector of the Treasury.

For the moment, the Jàmmi gox yi coalition has about fifteen candidates.

They plan to be around thirty across the country for the

next local elections in January 2022

.

Fadel Barro, one of the members of the coalition, explains that he wants to return to the local debate and get out of the cleavage between the major national opposition and power parties.

The vast majority of members have never been in political parties, but the issue of poverty and development will be settled at the level of the land,

.

The idea is to give civil society actors the opportunity to present themselves, without allying themselves with traditional political parties.

A system of solidarity therefore made it possible to pay the deposit.

The coalition plans to be present both in small towns and in large towns such as Louga, Kaolack or Thiès.

But for the moment, no one will run for Dakar.

The investitures must be specified before November 4, the deadline for submitting the lists.

Two other opposition coalitions, one around the Pastef of Ousmane Sonko, the other around the Senegalese Democratic Party of

former President Abdoulaye Wade

, will face that of the majority, Benno Bok Yaakar.
