Over the past day in Russia, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, 40,251 new cases of coronavirus were recorded.

Of these, the largest number was registered in Moscow (7267), St. Petersburg (3578) and the Moscow region (2680).

During this time, 28,909 people have fully recovered, 1160 patients have died.

The total number of COVID-19 cases registered in the country has reached 8,472,797. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 7,331,424 people have recovered in Russia, and 237,380 people have died.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, the country has already conducted more than 208.4 million laboratory tests for the presence of coronavirus.

From Saturday, October 30, a non-working day regime began to operate in all Russian regions, introduced as a measure to combat the spread of coronavirus infection.

The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin.

In a number of regions, non-working days began earlier - the authorities of the constituent entities made such a decision based on the epidemiological situation.

As Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted, most enterprises in the capital observe the non-working day regime.

He also expressed the hope that after the end of the non-working days, the city will return to normal life.

“We see that the overwhelming majority of enterprises strictly comply with the norms established by the presidential decree and the decisions of the city authorities and the Rospotrebnadzor service,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The mayor recalled that companies that do not comply with the established rules face administrative fines.

“When people return to Moscow, we will then see what effect non-working days have had.

We hope that after that we will work normally and the city will live an ordinary life, ”Sobyanin said.

Also on Saturday, the head of Roszdravnadzor Alla Samoilova and her deputies went to provide methodological assistance to regions with a difficult situation with coronavirus.

The department clarified that this was done on behalf of the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

Meanwhile, the director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, explained why even people vaccinated against coronavirus can get sick.

“The vaccinated people become infected, because with the delta strain, the memory cells do not have time to work.

The delta strain has changed the way it interacts with cells and exists inside cells.

The virus manages to penetrate the cells against the background of a low level of antibodies, "- quotes a specialist RIA Novosti.

Recall, experts have repeatedly noted that people who have been vaccinated against coronavirus, even in case of infection, tolerate the disease more easily than those who have not been vaccinated.

Residents of Russia can be vaccinated free of charge with one of the vaccines registered in the country - "Sputnik V" and "Sputnik Light" center.

Gamalei, "EpiVacCorona" and "EpiVacCorona-N" are developed by the Novosibirsk center "Vector" and "KoviVak" by the Chumakov Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
