After Ardèche, Gard and Lozère, Météo-France placed the Var on Saturday morning in orange vigilance for rain and flooding, bringing to four the number of departments in the south-east affected by this double episode, both Cévennes and Mediterranean.

While the rain fell in abundance yesterday in the Cévennes, the alert was maintained because of "the duration of the sustained rains as well as their occasional intensity", requiring "special vigilance".

The Gard firefighters, however, indicated that they had not had any intervention related to bad weather during the night, while "it has fallen frequently 100 to 120 mm of rain since the start of the episode, occasionally 180 to 200 mm on the Mont. Aigoual and Viala ”in Lozère according to Météo France.

Thus, even if the rains are weakening, "the cumulative precipitation since the beginning of the episode and until the middle of the night from Saturday to Sunday will be of the order of 200 to 250 mm on the relief, occasionally 300 to 350 mm" .

Thunderstorms in the Var all day and tonight

According to the SDIS 30, the phenomenon is all the same beginning "to evacuate to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and the Var" ... where another disturbance is already raging.

"The showers coming from the sea become more numerous and intensify in the morning", announced Météo-France in its 06:00 bulletin, and they will become "strong and stormy during the day on the islands and on the coast".

“Until the night of Saturday to Sunday, strong thunderstorms can therefore affect the coast with accumulations of around 80 mm in 3 hours.

Between Saturday 9:00 am and Sunday 9:00 am 120 or even locally 150 mm are expected ”, specifies the meteorological service.
