China News Service, Beijing, October 29. Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Johnson on October 29.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the current new crown pneumonia epidemic has fluctuated repeatedly, the world economy is recovering hard, and China-UK relations have both opportunities and challenges.

China and Britain are both permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies in the world. They should maintain good communication and strengthen cooperation to make contributions to the world's early victory over the epidemic, improvement of global governance, and realization of development and prosperity.

Next year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and Britain. Both sides should seize the opportunity, deal with challenges, and work together to push China-UK relations on the right track.

Xi Jinping emphasized that for the development of Sino-British relations, mutual trust is the foundation, cognition is the prerequisite, and proper handling of differences is the key.

China views China-UK relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. It is hoped that the UK will respect the facts and take a comprehensive and objective view of China's development path and system.

Overcoming the impact of the epidemic, China-UK trade and investment has grown against the trend, once again proving that China-UK cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win.

China welcomes the British side to export more high-quality products to China and expand cooperation in the fields of healthcare, green development, digital economy, finance, and innovation.

It is hoped that the British side will provide fair, just and non-discriminatory treatment for Chinese-funded enterprises, and China will also facilitate the cooperation of British enterprises in China.

Both parties should take the Beijing Winter Olympics as an opportunity to deepen sports cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Both sides should practice true multilateralism.

The UK is welcome to participate in the global development initiative and inject impetus into the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China’s announcement of carbon peak and carbon neutral goals and a series of specific measures to increase the country’s independent contribution means that extensive and profound economic and social changes require gradual and orderly progress and hard work.

China's determination to accelerate green and low-carbon development is unwavering and has always done what it says.

China supports the British side in playing the role of the chair of the 26th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, adhering to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, and urging countries to transform their high ambitions into concrete actions.

Johnson said that I cherish the relationship between Britain and China very much.

I agree with President Xi Jinping's views on the development of UK-China relations.

Britain and China have consensus and common interests on many important issues such as global public health, world economic recovery, the Iranian nuclear issue, and counter-terrorism. Both sides need to strengthen frank dialogue and friendly cooperation.

The British side is willing to deepen cooperation with China in the fields of economy and trade, education, clean energy, and welcomes Chinese companies to invest and cooperate in the UK, and is willing to provide an open business environment for Chinese companies.

The UK is willing to work with China to promote greater development of UK-China relations.

Congratulations to the Chinese side for successfully hosting the first phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Kunming Convention on Biological Diversity, and look forward to maintaining close communication with China on issues related to global climate change and biodiversity conservation, and working hard to promote balanced and sustainable global development .
