Although covered by his presidential immunity, Nicolas Sarkozy will have to stand as a witness at the Elysee polls trial.

The former president will therefore be present on Tuesday in Paris, as ordered by the court.

A rare decision hailed by the Anticor association, a civil party.

The former head of state Nicolas Sarkozy, summoned to come and testify Tuesday at the trial in Paris of his former relatives in the case of the Elysee polls, confirmed his presence in court, sources close to the case.

Nicolas Sakorzy informed the court of his coming Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and that it was useless to call on the police, according to these sources.

Covered by his presidential immunity

The court had ordered the hearing of former President Nicolas Sarkozy as a witness at the Elysee polls trial, a case in which he is not prosecuted because he is covered by his presidential immunity.

The court had also ordered "that this witness be brought before him by the police to be heard on November 2".

Between 2007 and 2009, 235 surveys were ordered by the Elysee Palace from the company of Patrick Buisson, a former adviser to Nicolas Sarkozy.

They were sold with a 65% margin for a profit of 1.4 million euros.

According to the anti-corruption association Anticor, the contracts violated the rules of public spending.
