The municipalities' headache - fewer young people and more old people in the future

Both the municipality and the private companies in Härjedalen, for example in the tourism industry, require a lot of people.

And young, able-bodied people will be harder to find in the municipality in the future.

- We need people who move here and who want to work here, says Ola Regnander, finance manager in Härjedalen municipality.

Trust the state

The composition of the population, demographics, is changing throughout the country.

This leads to changes in the municipalities' finances, when expenditures increase at the same time as tax revenues decrease.

But the CFO has high hopes that the state will fill in the gaps that arise.

- If the municipality becomes too small, you get support for it and if you have many older people, you get support for it.

I trust that the state will provide the necessary funds.

It has done so far in any case, says Ola Regnander.
