Khartoum

- Efforts by international parties to contain the political crisis in Sudan and to return to the path of democratic transition before the declaration of a state of emergency are continuing.

These parties leading these efforts aspire to the return of Abdullah Hamdouk, whose government overthrew the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to the presidency of the Council of Ministers, where the head of the UN mission in Sudan is leading an initiative to bridge the views between the two leaders.

Hamdok met a number of heads of Western diplomatic missions - including the ambassadors of the United States, France and Norway - at his home yesterday, Wednesday, after the success of international pressure in his return to his residence two days after his detention, and the ambassadors demanded the authorities to allow Hamdok freedom of movement, in reference to his placement under house arrest. at his home

Al Jazeera Net learned from informed sources that a number of Hamdok's government ministers tried to visit him at his residence, but the security guard around his house prevented them from reaching it.

Terms and dialogue

The initiative of the UN envoy included initiating a comprehensive dialogue between all concerned parties, represented by the forces of freedom and change, the movements that signed the Juba Peace Agreement, and the military component.

The initiative emphasized the importance of all parties' commitment to the constitutional document governing the transitional period and the Juba Peace Agreement, which Al-Burhan agreed to.

However, Hamdok put 3 conditions before the UN envoy's table, the first of which is the recognition that what happened was a military coup against the transitional civilian authority that was formed after the popular revolution that overthrew the regime of President Omar al-Bashir.

As well as the release of members of the Sovereign Council and the government and all detainees after declaring a state of emergency, as well as a condition for the army to stay away from the political process before entering into a dialogue about its return.

pressure and escalation

The Forces for Freedom and Change - the Central Council group, which was displaced by the new political equation after the declaration of a state of emergency in Sudan from the first moments, led a wide escalation that included the capital, Khartoum, and other cities in the states.

The Central Council held a meeting today to assess the situation and follow up on developments in the political arena.

Shihab Ibrahim, a leader in the Forces for Freedom and Change, says that Hamdok's conditions for entering into any dialogue with Al-Burhan are consistent with the American position and the Troika group.

He told Al Jazeera Net that today's meeting supports Hamdok's conditions, standing behind them, and stabilizing them in any proposed dialogue, adding that the conditions for returning to dialogue will make any potential settlement different from the current scene and should lead to the strengthening of the civil state.

He pointed out that the Central Council, in the event of a political settlement, will withdraw all the executive files that the Transitional Sovereign Council was briefed on, such as peace and the economy, and confirm the referral of the army's economic companies to the Ministry of Finance.

Agree and Reject

The Sudanese Congress Party - one of the ruling coalition parties before the dissolution of the government - sees the importance of naming the head of a civilian Sovereignty Council, and the leader of the party, Noureddin Salah, told Al Jazeera Net that the coming hours will witness a consensus on naming the head of a civilian sovereignty council, and confirmed their adherence to Abdullah Hamdouk as prime minister of the government. He added that the demonstration next Saturday called by the Sudanese Professionals Association will constitute another escalation of pressure to return to the path of the transitional process.

The position of the Sudanese Communist Party continues to reject the presence of the military in political power.

Muawiya Khaled, a party member, said that what happened was a coup carried out by the committee of former President Omar al-Bashir.

He told Al Jazeera Net that the constitutional document that governs the transitional period has already been torn apart after declaring a state of emergency.

Khaled added that the party will continue to escalate for full civilian rule.

The Sudanese Communist Party had accused Hamdok's government, before its dissolution, of implementing a foreign agenda that had nothing to do with Sudan's interests, and called for its overthrow.
