A 72-year-old man was indicted for "murder" and remanded in custody in Riom (Puy-de-Dôme) on Wednesday.

He is suspected of having killed his 64-year-old neighbor with two rifle shots two days earlier in Champétières (Puy-de-Dôme).

A disagreement would have broken out between the respondent and the victim, says

La Montagne

.

“It's a shame to come to this at your age.

After the exemplary career you have had, you risk life imprisonment.

If you find it normal to end your life in prison… ”, commented the public prosecutor, addressing the suspect during the hearing of the latter before the judge of freedoms and detention.

Remorse in a second step

The prosecution asserted that “There is an obvious premeditation.

He went to get the rifle, then he lined it up like hunting and shot it like a rabbit ”.

The septuagenarian of Puy-de-Dôme did not initially express any regrets and would have had words deemed "unacceptable" by his own lawyer.

However, he adopted a different tone during his hearing.

“I wanted to scare.

I am aware that I have hurt his family and mine too.

It's sad… ”he confided.
