French Presidential Palace: After the nuclear submarine dispute, the French and Australian leaders spoke for the first time

[Global News] AFP just reported that the French Elysee Palace revealed that French President Macron and Australian Prime Minister Morrison had a phone call on the 28th.

According to reports, this is the first call between the leaders of the two countries since the diplomatic crisis triggered by the nuclear submarine contract dispute between France and Australia last month.

According to the report, the French President’s Office stated in a statement that Macron reiterated that Canberra’s decision to cancel the French conventionally-powered submarine agreement and join the support of the US nuclear submarine program “undermined the trust relationship between our two countries”.

According to previous reports, Morrison wanted to call French President Macron to explain to him on September 15th, but to no avail, he said he would try to call Macron again.

On September 22, the Australian Prime Minister admitted that French President Macron would not answer his calls.

According to the report, a reporter asked Morrison on September 22, "Did you try to talk to him (Macron) now? He just won't answer your call?" "Yes, we have tried." "Morrison replied, "There is no chance to talk. But we will wait patiently."

On September 15, the United States, Britain and Australia announced the establishment of a new trilateral security partnership. The United States and Britain will support the Australian Navy in establishing a nuclear submarine force. Australia will cooperate with the United States and Britain to build nuclear submarines in Australia.

The Australian government immediately announced that it had suspended the supply contract for the purchase of 12 submarines previously signed with the French Navy Group.

This made France very angry. On the 16th of the same month, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian scolded it as "stabbing in the back."

On the 17th of the same month, France announced the recall of its ambassadors to the United States and Australia.
