October 28, 2021 The meeting between Silvio Berlusconi, Matteo Salvini and the delegation of the ministers of Forza Italia and the Lega, with the four group leaders, ended "with the commitment to greater coordination of the activities of the delegation to the Government and the Parliamentary groups" . Among the objectives, "the defense of the majority electoral system and a common strategy on the Quirinale". This is what was reported in a joint note at the end of the meeting at Villa Grande, Berlusconi's new Roman residence.

Main topics of the meeting, the maneuver with the need for a significant tax cut and the local elections.

The leaders of Forza Italia and Lega "asked to proceed as quickly as possible to identify candidates for the next administrative elections, obviously involving the other center-right parties starting with the Brothers of Italy" and announced that a further commitment to support VAT numbers and those who "suffered most in these pandemic years" will be asked for in the budget law.

During the summit, Matteo Salvini insisted on the need to work on a compact center-right starting from the majority, "otherwise we will have the Democratic Party in government for life". According to what is learned, those present would have agreed on the need not to fuel unnecessary tensions and divisions.

Salvini stressed that on Europe "the balance is changing" and recalled that "even Jobbik's ultra-right will line up against Viktor Orban together with the extreme left". "In Europe we are still working to bring together the center-right also in Brussels, to count more as Italy and to counter the ideological follies of the left".

The group leaders of Lega and Forza Italia will meet again shortly to develop agreed initiatives, while an extended summit at Meloni will soon be reconvened to discuss the next administrative meetings.

At the summit lunch, in addition to the two leaders Matteo Salvini and Silvio Berlusconi, the ministers and group leaders of Lega and FI were also present, as well as the Azzurri Gianni Letta, Antonio Tajani and Licia Ronzulli.

Forza Italia ministers: "Loyalty but to mark a moderate and pro-European line"

Before the Forza Italia and Lega summit, a meeting was held between the Azzurri ministers Mara Carfagna, Renato Brunetta and Mariastella Gelmini and Silvio Berlusconi. A meeting, according to sources close to the ministers of FI, which is defined as "clarifier", during which Gelmini, Carfagna and Brunetta reaffirmed their personal loyalty to the president, and the unconditional support for his leadership and a possible candidacy for the Quirinale. However, the three ministers pointed out to Berlusconi that the political knots on the management of the party remain and that it is necessary that the moderate, pro-European, liberal and guarantor line of Forza Italia be represented by the whole movement, with greater energy and balance, better marking his identity.
