In August this year, the company European Energy began building a wind farm in Grevkulla in Ydre municipality.

Now the company wants to expand the wind farm with solar cells and create a so-called hybrid park.

- This is a very large solar park to be in Sweden and then it is good to be able to combine it with wind power.

When it blows a little, it is usually very sunny and when it is not sunny, it often blows a lot, says Sofia Haargaard, project manager European Energy.

The solar cells will increase the total production in Grevkulla by a third and supply electricity to the corresponding 8400 villas annual consumption.

Unique in all of Sweden

Hybrid parks are so far quite unusual in Sweden and as far as Sofia Haargaard is aware, there is no other hybrid park with the combination of wind power and solar cells in all of Sweden.

But for the park to be built, permission from the County Administrative Board is first required.

If the County Administrative Board approves the project, it will take about a year to complete the park and already in about two years, the solar cells can then start producing electricity.

Jobs in Ydre municipality

The construction of the park will possibly create jobs in Ydre municipality, but to what extent the company does not know at present.

When the park is ready, local companies will also take care of the care and maintenance of the park.

- Both a photovoltaic plant and a wind farm need supervision.

Road maintenance is also needed and clearing for winter roads, says Sofia Haargaard.
