Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 27 (Reporter Gao Jing) The White Paper "China's Policies and Actions to Address Climate Change" issued by the Information Office of the State Council on the 27th introduced that China’s response to climate change has undergone historic changes, which basically reversed the rapid increase in carbon dioxide emissions. situation.

The white paper pointed out that while China has sustained and healthy economic and social development, its carbon emission intensity has dropped significantly.

In 2020, China’s carbon emission intensity will be reduced by 18.8% compared with 2015, and it will exceed the 13th Five-Year Plan’s binding target, and it will drop by 48.4% compared with 2005. It will exceed the 40%-45% reduction that China has promised to the international community by 2020. The goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 5.8 billion tons, basically reversing the rapid growth of carbon dioxide emissions.

The white paper introduced that China's energy production and consumption revolution has achieved remarkable results.

In 2020, the proportion of China's non-fossil energy in total energy consumption will increase to 15.9%, a significant increase of 8.5 percentage points from 2005.

The installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation accounted for 44.7% of the total installed capacity, of which the installed capacity of photovoltaic and wind power increased by more than 3,000 and 200 times respectively compared with 2005.

China is one of the countries with the fastest reduction in energy intensity in the world.

According to preliminary calculations, China's energy consumption intensity has dropped by 28.7% from 2011 to 2020.

During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, China's average annual energy consumption growth of 2.8% supported an average annual economic growth of 5.7%, and energy savings accounted for about half of the global energy savings during the same period.

At the same time, the transformation of energy consumption structure to clean and low-carbon is accelerating.

The proportion of coal in total energy consumption has dropped from 72.4% in 2005 to 56.8% in 2020.

The white paper said that China's industrial structure has been further optimized and the new energy industry has flourished.

China's new energy vehicle production and sales scale ranks first in the world for 6 consecutive years, the world's largest new photovoltaic market for 8 consecutive years, and the scale of new energy storage installed capacity ranks first in the world.

The white paper pointed out that China continues to consolidate and improve the carbon sink capacity of the ecosystem, is the country with the largest increase in forest resources and the largest area of artificial forestry in the world, and has become the main force in the global "greening".

At the same time, a simple, moderate, green, low-carbon, civilized and healthy lifestyle has become a new social trend.
