27 October 2021 It will be the taxi of the future, not too far away: from 2024 it will be possible to fly with a two-seater drone-taxi that will connect Fiumicino airport with the capital in 10, 15 minutes maximum.

The innovative technological urban transport service was presented this morning at Fiumicino airport by Volocopter, the pioneer of urban air mobility (Uam), the investment holding Atlantia and Aeroporti di Roma, the largest airport operator in Italy.

The conference entitled "Urban mobility of the future" which took place in the Roman airport was an opportunity to officially announce their partnership, to bring electric air taxis to Rome. Together with ENAC and ENAV, this pool of companies, in fact, is already strongly committed to bringing highly sustainable innovation to the aviation field.

Urban air mobility, as underlined during the conference which saw, among others, Claudio De Vincenti, president of Aeroporti di Roma; Carlo Bertazzo, CEO of Atlantia; Alessio Quaranta, CEO of Enac; Marco Troncone, CEO of Rome Airports; Alessandra Todde, Deputy Minister of Economic Development; Pierluigi Di Palma, president of ENAC; Teresa Bellanova, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, the regional councilor Paolo Orneli, will essentially be part of the solution for heavily congested urban centers around the world.

With the "VoloCity" this innovative mobility service will offer the air transport of people and goods powered by battery and therefore without emissions. Together with the Italian authorities and regulatory bodies and with the full support of Atlantia, Aeroporti di Roma and Volocopter will sensitize passengers and public opinion on the benefits of and pave the way to bring it to Italy within the next 2-3 years.

The electric flying taxi will connect Fiumicino airport with different areas of the capital, through "vertical airports".

This will allow quality travel in full comfort, reducing both urban traffic congestion and CO2 emissions, since VoloCity's 18 engines operate in electric mode.

VoloCity, which has aroused great curiosity among passengers and operators, from today until 30 October is exhibited at terminal 3 of the Roman airport and from 2 to 4 November in Piazza San Silvestro in Rome.
