Through the voice of its spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the police confirm that the explosion triggered in a bus on Monday is a new terrorist act in the country.

This is the first case of a suicide attack, where the assailant wears an explosive jacket, and sets it off on a bus.

The suicide bomber was identified as Isaac Matovu, a 23-year-old man

, said Fred Enanga.

He was already wanted to be a member of ADF sleeper cells.

We tracked him down under the pseudonym Mustapha.

 "

In close collaboration with IS

According to the police, the same group is at the origin of the

explosion on Saturday, October 23

in a restaurant. The attackers would report to the same cell inspired by the ADF and in "

close collaboration with the Islamic State

". ISIS, through its local branch, the Islamic State in Central Africa, had also claimed responsibility for the attack this weekend north of Kampala.

"

These events confirm our information that these sleeper cells have considerably recruited, radicalized and studied how to make homemade bombs

," added the Ugandan police spokesman

.

Their motives are ideological and based on hatred.

They started off with easy targets, but we think they can have much bigger plans.

 "

The same group, according to the authorities, carried out the attempted suicide bombing last August at the burial of a senior law enforcement official, as did the attack in early October on a police station in north of Kampala, the first attack claimed in the country by the Islamic State.
