Survey: Do you want to move from the big city?

Hans Jacobsson would not exchange Stockholm for another Swedish city.

- Here I am, born, raised and thrive.

He describes the image that Stockholmers are grumpy and do not really want to live in the capital as "completely wrong."

- It's probably envy, or something like that.

- Stockholm has it all.

Declining attractiveness

At the same time, the attractiveness of big cities is not what it once was.

During the corona year 2020, the net relocation from metropolitan areas was greater than it has ever been in the last 20 years, in terms of all relocations that take place within the country.

That is not to say that everyone wants to move to a smaller city.

Signe Stjernstof grew up in Stockholm, and has no plans to leave.

- It is the largest city in Sweden so there is a lot to do here, she says.

Are Stockholmers sour?
