“During the search, operatives seized about 4,000 liters of ethyl alcohol, more than 500 bottles of finished products, glass containers, labels, fake excise stamps and equipment for bottling alcohol-containing liquids,” the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region told TASS.

The illegal production was housed in two garages of one of the city's garage cooperatives.

On the fact of the crime, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art.

327.1 of the Criminal Code (production, sale of counterfeit excise stamps, special stamps or conformity marks or their use).

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs told about the seizure of more than 12 tons of surrogate alcohol in the Sverdlovsk region.
