The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s external advisory body has decided to recommend the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years.

It is known that all of the advisory members of the Vaccine and Biologics Advisory Committee, except for one who abstained, decided that 'the benefits of the Pfizer vaccine outweigh the potential risks'.

Although the decision is not binding, there is a prospect that the FDA will approve emergency use within a few days.

If the FDA approval for emergency use is granted, it is expected that the actual vaccination will start from the beginning of next month after going through additional procedures by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
