Ambassador to Afghanistan Okada met with Acting Foreign Minister Muttaki, the interim administration of the Islamist Taliban, and sought cooperation for the swift and safe departure of the remaining Japanese and others.

This is the first official meeting between the Japanese government and Taliban executives.

Ambassador of Afghanistan Okada met with Acting Foreign Minister Muttaki of the interim administration of the Islamic power Tullivan, which governs Afghanistan, on the night of the 27th of Japan time in Doha, the capital of Qatar in the Middle East, where the temporary office of the embassy is located.



This is the first official meeting between the Japanese government and Taliban executives.



Ambassador Okada sought cooperation for ensuring the safety of the Japanese remaining in Afghanistan and Afghan staff such as the Japanese embassy and for prompt and safe departure.



Ambassador Okada also called


for the security of personnel to deliver Japanese humanitarian relief supplies, as well


as respect for the human rights of women and ethnic minorities,


and the establishment of an inclusive political system that includes diverse ethnic groups and denominations. ..



According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Acting Foreign Minister Muttaki has indicated his intention to cooperate with Ambassador Okada's request.
