Zoo animal care staff and veterinarians said the lions were showing mild symptoms, adding that they were still paying close attention.
Brian Oconi, senior vice president of life sciences at the Denver Zoo, said that two tigers in the zoo and other big cats in zoos across the United States have also been infected with the new crown.
"Fortunately, most of them have fully recovered. The advantage is that we have an established knowledge base that can be used to help treat our animals," Oconi said.
