Al Jalila Foundation, a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, announced the launch of the “Hope Council”, the first community center of its kind established with the aim of preserving the health and well-being of cancer patients.

This initiative comes in accordance with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in upgrading the capabilities of the health system, providing the best forms of care for patients, and preparing all the requirements that help improve their quality of life.

Al Jalila Foundation’s announcement, which aims to improve people’s lives for the better through medical innovations, coincides with the conclusion of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the #Pink_October campaign organized by the Foundation in cooperation with Brest Friends, which is the first breast cancer support group in the UAE, and was founded by Dr. Houria Kazim in the year 2005. The Hope Council benefits from the successes of the Brest Friends group and its experience in providing moral support as an essential stop in the patient's recovery journey.

Dr. Abdulkarim Sultan Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, said: “Cancer remains one of the most serious health challenges facing our country, and in addition to our efforts to invest in medical research and provide support for the treatment of patients, Al Jalila Foundation is committed to supporting the health and well-being of patients and the recovering. Community care centers around the world have proven their influential contribution to confronting and overcoming the disease, and we look forward to our first experience in offering this distinctive community service, which will have great positive repercussions on the community.”

Patients can visit the center at any time in its premises on the ground floor of Al Jalila Foundation, whether to inquire about some information, use the internal library, participate in the sessions organized in the center, or attend educational workshops provided by specialists who volunteer their time to support women whose lives have been affected by disease Note that all services are free and are not subject to any fees. The center, which is run by a group of volunteers, provides many opportunities for individuals to volunteer and donate their time and expertise in order to help women defeat cancer.

The center was designed and fully equipped under the auspices of the Marriott Business Council in the UAE, a long-time supporter and partner of the healthcare programs launched by the Al Jalila Foundation. The Marriott Council strives to harness its resources and capabilities to serve charitable work and make a positive and sustainable difference in the communities in which it operates.
