One million doses of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, which the Korean government donated to Iran, arrived at Tehran Airport on the 27th local time.

The vaccine arrived at Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport terminal around 5 pm on the same day via Emirates flight.

Staff from the Korean Embassy in Iran and officials from the Iranian government watched as the vaccines were unloaded.

Jalal Naeli, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation, Iran's Ministry of Health, said, "Thank you to Korea for providing the vaccine.

Ambassador Yoon Kang-hyun said, "I am glad that the vaccine can be delivered to Iran by uniting the hearts of our people.

Iranian funds currently frozen in South Korea are estimated at $7 billion (about 8.3 trillion won).

In 2010, Iran opened a won account with a domestic bank in the name of the central bank and received crude oil export payments. In 2018, the US government placed the central bank of Iran on the sanctions list, and transactions through this account were suspended.
