On Friday, the decision was made to temporarily close Örebro's public toilets.

Anders Olsson, chairman of the technical committee, then told SVT that the decision was made due to the social and criminal problems that existed at the toilets.

A view that the police share.

- It is visible in the form of drug abuse, we see remnants of the abuse inside the toilets.

Hopefully this can reintroduce a certain security, because this part of abuse creates a lot of insecurity for the common man, says Fredrik Bäcker.

The closure, however, has been questioned, not least from the perspective of the homeless.

But Fredrik Bäcker emphasizes that the toilets are not a humane place to spend the night and therefore should not be provided as a place to spend the night regardless.

The police called for closure last year

In December 2020, the toilets on Järntorget were temporarily closed, then in consultation with the police, who wanted such a decision in order to stop the drug sales that were provided on the spot.

But Fredrik Bäcker can not answer exactly where the sales moved.
