- We received information on the car that the suspects left the place in. Later we got visual contact with it, says police spokesman Dennis Johansson Strömberg.

The car was stopped on highway 53 in Malmköping and in the found police stolen goods that are believed to come from the car in Strängnäs.

Two men in their 20s were arrested and later arrested on suspicion of theft.

Witnesses important

According to Dennis Johansson Strömberg, the signal element on the car and the suspected thieves are crucial for the police to be able to intervene in catalyst thefts, as they rarely make it to the crime scene in time.

- In general, it is very fast to steal a catalyst, from thirty seconds to a couple of minutes.

It can look a bit like someone is messing with their car.

Then they leave the place quickly.

That is why it is important to get a signal element and a direction of travel, he says.

If the two arrested men have any connection to any of the previous catalyst thefts in Sörmland, it is too early to say.

- It is clearly something that the prosecutor will look at now, says Dennis Johansson Strömberg.
