The government announced on the 27th that Prime Minister Kishida will participate in the online summit meeting related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

This was announced by Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, and Prime Minister Kishida will hold an online summit meeting with ASEAN countries on the 27th, and by ASEAN and Japan, China and South Korea. It means participating in summit meetings.



Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno said, "At the series of meetings, in addition to the response to the new corona and economic revitalization in the post-corona, opinions will be exchanged on regional conditions such as the South China Sea issue, the situation in North Korea, and the situation in Myanmar."



On that basis, he expressed his hope that meaningful discussions would be held among the leaders, including concrete cooperation with ASEAN, toward the realization of a "free and open Indo-Pacific".
