Minister of Tourism in the Maldives: "Expo 2020 Dubai" enhances the paths of development in the world
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Masoum, Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Maldives, affirmed that Expo 2020 Dubai enhances the world's confidence in its ability to achieve sustainable development at various levels and overcome the repercussions of the "Covid-19" pandemic.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, His Excellency said that Expo 2020 Dubai is the most prominent and important event in the world since the beginning of the pandemic, and with the presence of about 192 countries in this gathering, we have opportunities to enhance joint action and open up wider horizons for cooperation and development in various fields. .
His Excellency revealed expansion plans in the tourism sector in the country, especially with the announcement during Expo 2020 Dubai of the inauguration of new islands to develop tourist communities in the Maldives, noting that this project provides long-term usufruct for investors for a period of up to 99 years.
His Excellency said that it is our pleasure to be at Expo 2020 Dubai, especially since the tourism market in the UAE in particular and the Gulf region in general is one of the main and important markets for us, noting that the Maldives has attracted more than 11,000 tourists from the UAE this year and is looking forward to attracting more More than 30,000 tourists next year.
He explained that the Maldives is characterized by a charming nature .. and that there is an expansionary trend currently in the tourism sector in the Maldives, which does not only take into account the preservation of the charming beauty and sensitive natural environment in the Maldives, but also takes into account the diversity in what the tourism industry offers in the country of broader and richer experiences for visitors It also includes a wide range of experiences as well as the rich culture and heritage of the Maldives.
His Excellency said that our presence at Expo 2020 Dubai, the prominent global forum, is an important and vital matter for us, and we look forward to developing Emirati investments in the Maldives and increasing the number of Emirati tourists.
He stressed that the UAE and the Republic of the Maldives enjoy distinguished and growing relations, both at the official and popular levels, noting that His Excellency the President of the Maldives was keen to be present at Expo 2020 Dubai, based on the distinguished relations between the two countries and their leadership, as well as emphasizing the importance of this event in creating promising opportunities for various Participating countries in order to enhance their development process in various fields.
