October 26, 2021About 30 migrants sailed from Turkey in a stormy sea, without even wearing life jackets, many children. Then the tragedy: four children drowned, a migrant missing, another twenty saved from the sea. 



The tweet of the Greek migration minister, Notis Mitarachi: "Despite the best efforts of the Hellenic coast guard, four children died", and then, the lunge against Ankara: "Turkish authorities must do more to prevent exploitation at source by criminal gangs, these trips should never be allowed. " 



The Greek sailors rescued a total of 22 migrants, rescued near the island of Chios: 14 men, 7 women and another child. The boat had set sail in the midst of strong winds, and the traffickers who transported them did not provide any life jackets. 



The political quarrel between Greece and Turkey


According to the reconstruction of the Greek coast guard, the large number of passengers on board together with the weather conditions led to the detachment of the bottom of the boat.

Greek minister Mitarchi accused Turkey of failing to comply with the terms of the 2016 agreement with the European Union.

Ankara's reply: the Turkish government has responded by stressing that it hosts "the largest number of refugees in the world: about 4 million", and accuses the EU of having been slow in fulfilling its promises of financial support.
