France: the trial of the murder of Mireille Knoll opens in Paris

The trial of two men accused of the anti-Semitic murder of Mireille Knoll in Paris, in March 2018, opens this Tuesday, October 26 at the Assizes.

This Jewish pensioner was found stabbed and burned dead in her Parisian social housing.

The firefighters had found him in his apartment.

She had received eleven stab wounds and her body was partially charred.

Judges will have to shed light on the exact circumstances of this murder during the two-week trial.

The two suspects appear for "murder on a vulnerable person and committed because of the religion of the victim" but also for "aggravated theft".

The fire is also worth to them to be prosecuted for "degradation by dangerous means".

For the lawyer of the civil party, the Mireille Knoll case is the anti-Sarah Halimi case.

Named after this Jewish pensioner, brutally murdered in 2017. Recognized criminally irresponsible, the accused had not been tried for this crime.
