Tunisia -

After the escalating tone of the Tunisian Labor Union towards the President of the Republic, in which it refused to exclude him from the post-"July 25" track, observers are wondering about the fate of the relationship between the two parties in the absence of a dialogue horizon between national organizations and parties on the one hand, The president on the other hand.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi, affirmed that he "will not present a blank check to anyone," and that no one can chart the country's future without the participation of the trade union organization.

Stressing that "there is no return to individual rule."

Al-Taboubi revealed in a media meeting - yesterday, Monday - that the Labor Union did not receive any response from the President of the Republic regarding the dialogue initiative that he had previously presented, pointing out that "in the event that the president decided to conduct a dialogue on his own, and without the involvement of the union, civil society and parties that believe in July 25 / July, let him do it."

The President of the Republic, Qais Saeed, had announced his refusal to launch a national dialogue "like its predecessors", in reference to the national dialogues conducted by the political and national forces to get out of the crises that the country previously knew.

He said that dialogue is only with the people, and that some are looking for dialogue to legitimize themselves.

Saeed explained - during his meeting with the Minister of Communication - that he calls for a kind of unconventional referendum, to listen to the proposals of the people, especially the youth, regarding the electoral system and the constitution.

fundamental disagreement

In this context, political analyst Salah al-Din al-Jourshi points out that there is a fundamental difference between the President of the Republic and the Secretary-General of the Labor Union regarding their perception of the nature, contents and participants of the national dialogue.

Al-Jorshi estimated - in an interview with Al-Jazeera Net - that the strong reactions and the escalation in tone shown by the Secretary-General of the Labor Union towards the President of the Republic are evidence that the "working organization" has become convinced that the president was not serious in building a participatory relationship with it.

He pointed out that political and legal voices supported the president's actions last July 25, but today they began reviewing their positions after finding it difficult to accept the president's vision of dialogue and the political path he is taking.

Many consider that the political and social role played by the labor union in resolving the political crises that Tunisia experienced and achieving social peace cannot be ignored.

And that President Saeed may pay a heavy price for his exclusion of this organization.

Muhammad Al-Qumani: The dwindling opportunities for participatory dialogue predict a rupture between the presidency and the Labor Union (Al-Jazeera)

Weak opportunities for dialogue

The leader of the Ennahda movement, Muhammad al-Qumani, believes that all the data indicate the extent of the discrepancy between the President of the Republic and the Secretary-General of the Labor Union, which would weaken the chances of going towards a national dialogue in its participatory sense.

Between the various political and civil actors, and foretells of what looks like a rupture between Carthage and the Union.

Al-Qumani told Al-Jazeera Net that Al-Taboubi was clear when he stated that "whoever wants to rule Tunisia should read its history, and note that the Labor Union - since independence until now - has been and remains a major party whose role cannot be skipped."

On the other hand, Qawmani believes that the President of the Republic does not hold any position on the Union or the parties, but rather has a problem with the various "intermediary bodies" of parties and organizations, and he has a different thought regarding his political project.

The leader in Ennahda concluded that the Labor Union, which supported the president's actions on July 25, began to distance himself from him due to the ambiguity of the project that Saeed wanted on the one hand, and the marginalization of the union's role on the other.

He warned of the repercussions of this on the future of the country, in light of the position that the union enjoys among the political and intellectual elites and a wide spectrum of the Tunisian people on the one hand, and the pressure cards it possesses, on the other hand.

support but

On the other hand, Professor of Constitutional Law, Al-Saghir Al-Zakrawi, reiterated his support for the measures taken by the President of the Republic, warning of what he described as "dissonant voices that carry ideas that cannot be applied on the ground, and speak on behalf of the President of the Republic."

Al-Zakrawi warned - in an interview with Al-Jazeera Net - against the consequences of ignoring the national dialogue path that the President of the Republic wants, stressing the importance of involving "parties that have not stained their hands with corruption and support the president's actions", according to his assessment.
