The suspect was arrested the night of April 18, the same night the man was found dead in his home.

The case has been described by the police as having "very special circumstances".

When prosecutor Jessica Andersson submitted the indictment to Eksjö District Court on Tuesday, the picture of what happened is clear.

- I claim that the 56-year-old was murdered by inflicting lethal force in the form of stab wounds.

The crime should be considered serious because the act was of a particularly ruthless nature.

During the investigation, it has emerged, among other things, that the men were superficially familiar with each other, and that there is technical evidence that binds the suspect to the crime scene, says chamber prosecutor Jessica Andersson at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Jönköping in a press release.

Prosecutor: "Quick action"

Prosecutor Jessica Andersson praises the police's efforts in the incident, which she believes were crucial to the arrest of the suspect.

- If the police had not acted so quickly and vigorously, the suspect could have disappeared from the scene, which would have significantly hampered the investigation.

The suspect denies the crime but admits he was at the scene.

He is in custody for probable cause, which is the higher degree of suspicion.

The trial is set to begin on November 4.
