The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to check the statements of the rapper Morgenstern, who doubted the need to celebrate Victory Day.

“In connection with the appeal to the Investigative Committee of Russia by representatives of the veteran organization with a request to check the statements of the music performer Alisher Morgenstern about Victory Day, the chairman ... instructed the head of the Main Investigation Department for Moscow Strizhov to organize an inspection,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

As part of the check, it is planned to find out whether there are violations of the law in the rapper's statements.

Not long before it became known that the all-Russian public organization "Veterans of Russia", against the background of Morgenstern's statements, appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee.

According to TASS, the head of the organization Ildar Rezyapov asked to check the rapper's statements for inciting hatred or enmity of an extremist nature, as well as the rehabilitation of Nazism.

Recall that Morgenstern spoke about Victory Day during an interview with Ksenia Sobchak.

The rapper said that he "did not understand" the celebration of the event, which took place 76 years ago.

“I don’t know to remember every year for almost a century that you won back then,” he said.

However, he later apologized to everyone who was hurt by his words about Victory Day.

Morgenstern said he did not seek to diminish the significance of the event and respects the veterans.

“I in no way belittled the importance and significance of the event, I just honestly admitted that I“ don't understand, ”and the phrase was taken out of context,” he wrote in his Instagram stories.

The rapper said that "the media are turning over his words for their dirty purposes."

He added that he “respects and is proud of the veterans,” but he cannot formulate his thoughts correctly.

Later, lawyer Sergei Zhorin, representing the interests of the artist, announced the readiness of the music artist to explain his statements to the UK.

“Of course, it is necessary to come and give an explanation.

We will do this as soon as we are called ... We believe that there is no corpus delicti in his statements.

He did not call to cancel the holiday, he simply expressed misunderstanding, "RIA Novosti quotes Zhorin.

The lawyer stressed that the rapper has not yet received a summons.

"Most likely it's just a lack of knowledge."

The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov advised the rapper to talk about the importance of Victory Day with the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Commenting on Morgenstern's statement, Peskov noted that I just want to humanly recommend young people to talk to their grandparents on this topic.

“Or come to some veteran, of whom there are fewer and fewer ... and ask why Victory Day is so important and why it was, is and will be forever important for our country,” Peskov said.

Also, the Kremlin spokesman believes that such judgments may occur "not out of malice."

“Most likely, this is just a lack of knowledge, and here it is very easy to fill these gaps,” Peskov suggested.

The spokesman for the head of state added that young people who are popular among their peers should be morally responsible for such important concepts for the whole country as Victory Day.

In turn, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, Yuri Shvytkin, condemningly commented on Morgenstern's statements.

“I condemn such statements.

Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a great victory that freed the entire world community from the fascist yoke.

Today we are educating young people, we take an example from those soldiers, thanks to whom we have a peaceful sky over our heads, ”he said in an interview with the radio station“ Moscow Says ”.

Among other things, State Duma deputy Mikhail Romanov proposed to study the rapper Morgenstern's statement about Victory Day.

“This defies sound logic.

Apparently, the person has not studied our history or knows it poorly, ”Romanov said in an interview with Life.ru.

According to him, May 9 is a holiday that unites all citizens of the country, as evidenced by the action "Immortal Regiment".

“The statement itself must be read for possible responsibility.

If we are talking about money, then this is one situation, but if he is trying to undermine the foundations of our system and history, then it is quite possible that such a statement contains a share of responsibility, ”Romanov said.

In addition, Morgenstern was invited to visit the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill.

The director of the museum, Alexander Shkolnik, promised that the artist would be given an excursion and told about the main events of the Great Patriotic War.

The head of the museum expressed the hope that after examining the exposition, Morgenstern will change his attitude towards Victory Day.
