October 25, 2021 The Ministry of Labor "is ready to implement all the tools to ensure the continuity of employment for Whirlpool workers". To reiterate this at the table underway at Mise, according to what some present at the meeting report, is the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Andrea Orlando. A transition that is not easy at the moment: "Whirlpool must explain the timing and methods of the sale", said the head of the Labor Department.

The table is underway at the Ministry of Economic Development-Mise on the industrial future of the Whirlpool site in Naples.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister Alessandra Todde, is attended by the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando, while the Minister of Development Giancarlo Giorgetti is absent at the moment. The coordinator of the Structure for business crises, Luca Annibaletti, Invitalia, the Campania Region and the national secretaries of Fim Fiom Uilm and Uglm also sit at the table.

The unions expect a concrete response for the 340 workers at the Naples site at risk of being sacked.

On the judicial front, at the hearing of the Court of Naples on Friday 22 October, for the appeal presented by the Fiom, Fim and Uilm unions for anti-union behavior against the American multinational, the next hearing was postponed to Wednesday 27 October at 12.00, in order to to prevent the start of collective redundancies for the approximately 340 Neapolitan metalworkers.

After an initial preliminary hearing, the judge, Maria Rosaria Lombardi, updated the session to October 27 because Whirlpool "presented a document in English", the territorial secretaries of the trade unions said.

The documentation must be translated into Italian.
