The Sudanese Prime Minister is under house arrest.. and speculations of a "military coup"

It has become certain that Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was placed under house arrest this morning.

This comes after the Sudanese capital witnessed, early Monday, an intense security deployment.

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent reported that a series of arrests affected a number of ministers in Abdullah Hamdok's government.

It also clarified that an unknown military force had arrested four ministers, in addition to Muhammad al-Faki, a civilian member of the Sovereignty Council.

Meanwhile, calls spread on Facebook, especially by the Sudanese Professionals Association, to take to the streets in support of the government and the civil authority.

In a statement on the communication sites, the assembly indicated that there was news of a military move aimed at controlling power, calling on the Sudanese in all cities to go out to the streets to protect the gains of the revolution.

Al-Arabiya's correspondent described the ongoing moves as a coup against the civilian government, and added that a statement is expected to be issued later today by the head of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, explaining what is happening in the country.
