The country’s internet and telephone signals were also disrupted.

  According to Agence France-Presse citing a government source, a group of unidentified militants detained a number of senior transitional government officials earlier on the 25th.

Previously, tensions between the Sudanese military and the transitional government lasted for several weeks.   

  According to official sources quoted by the Associated Press, the detained government officials included Minister of Industry Ibrahim Sheikh, Minister of Information Hamza Balur, member of the Sudan Sovereignty Commission Mohamed Fiki Suliman, and the prime minister. Faisal Mohamed Saleh, Hamdok’s media consultant.

  In addition, Ayman Khalid, the governor of the state where the capital Khartoum is located, was also detained.

  Reuters also quoted Al Hadath TV as reporting that some sources said that Prime Minister Hamdok had been placed under house arrest.

  According to reports, a large number of demonstrators are gathering in the streets to protest the arrests.

  NetBlocks, an organization that tracks the entire Internet outage, said on the 25th that there have also been "major outages" in the fixed-line and mobile Internet connections with multiple suppliers across Sudan.

  Recently, Sudanese military leaders demanded a reorganization of the government, while civilian officials accused the military of planning to seize power.

Supporters of both sides held separate demonstrations in Khartoum recently.
