It was in August 2020 that the woman cheated on the children's father, who had sole custody, and took their joint children away from their home in Kalmar County.

All three children are under 15 years old.

The mother, who is in her 40s, brought the children to Stockholm.

After that, they moved around to a large number of hotels and accommodation around Sweden.

To help her, she had a man in her 50s who gave her hundreds of thousands of kronor and booked hotel rooms without revealing her identity.

One year on the run

In March, one of the children escaped after a dispute with the mother, and in July, the mother and the two remaining children could be found.

Then they had lived on the run for almost a year.

The mother is now sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, for gross arbitrariness with children.

The crime is considered serious because it lasted for a long time, the children have not been able to go to school and they have been forced to live a wandering and insecure life.

After the year on the run, the children show a hostile attitude towards the father and this has, according to the verdict, ruined their relationship.

The man is sentenced to probation for aiding and abetting the crime.

The children have been taken into care by social authorities.

The woman has acknowledged the facts but claims that she acted in distress when the children, according to her, were harmed by the father.

The social services have previously clarified that both parents have different shortcomings in parenting and caring abilities.
