——Sidelights on the 71st anniversary of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea at the Martyrs Cemetery in Shenyang

In Shenyang in October, the golden breeze was rustling, and the sky was clear and bright.

"I volunteer to join the Communist Party of China, support the party's program, and abide by the party's statutes..." On the morning of October 24, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the War to Resist U.S. Aid Korea, officers and soldiers of the units directly under the Liaoning Provincial Military Region were in the Shenyang Anti-U.S. Aid Korea Martyrs Cemetery. In front of the monument, revisit the oath of joining the party, carry out party group activities, and cherish the memory of revolutionary heroes.

Seventy-one years ago, the Volunteer Army soldiers crossed the Yalu River arrogantly and arrogantly. In order to defend their homes and the country, they sacrificed their lives and fought bloody battles. More than 197,000 heroes and sons and daughters died on the Korean battlefield.

“My comrades in arms fought for the peace of the motherland and sacrificed heroically. They are true heroes.” Volunteer army veteran Nan Qixiang was invited to tell the battle story for officers and soldiers in front of the monument. The goal of the era's strong army keeps forging ahead."

"As a soldier, I want to inherit and carry forward the great spirit of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, practice strong skills, and fulfill my mission based on my position." Yuan Wei, a corporal of the Liaoning Provincial Military Region, said firmly.

In the cemetery, there is an endless stream of citizens who come to worship and sweep.

"71 years ago, so many young people went to the battlefield without hesitation. Their lives are always fixed at the age of youth. They will always be the'loveliest people.' Our new generation of Communists must continue to pass on the great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and contribute their youth to the prosperity of the motherland. Strength." said Zhang Shuqiong, a student of Northeastern University who had just read the party oath.

In the morning, the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Northeastern University organized party members to visit the cemetery of the martyrs to resist US aggression and aid Korea. The young students held the oath of new party members and laid wreaths in front of the monument to the martyrs of the Korean War.

"In recent years, the number of people who spontaneously come to the cemetery to offer flowers has increased significantly," Wang Chunjie, chief of the cemetery's interpretation and reception section, told reporters. "Every year, many military and civilian units carry out patriotism education in the cemetery and hold new party membership swearing ceremonies."

It is reported that since the beginning of this year, the Shenyang Anti-U.S. Aid Korea Martyrs Cemetery has received nearly 3,000 memorial and sweeping education activities, and more than 300,000 cadres and masses.

People remember history in different ways and pay tribute to the heroes.

On this day, Wang Chunjie and his colleagues found a stack of letters in front of the tombstones of the martyrs. There were "thank you" letters written by primary school students to the martyrs in neat handwriting, handwritten poems on the theme of Anti-U.S. Aid Korea, photos of advanced domestic fighters, and the People's Liberation Army. Hand-drawn drawings of the new-style warm quilt and so on.

Surrounded by green grass and pine and cypresses, time seems to stop here.

"My old regiment leader Liu Yuman is still asleep on the land of North Korea." At the tomb of the martyrs, Nan Qixiang told the history for the officers and soldiers, and missed his comrades-in-arms.

948 volunteer martyrs are buried in the cemetery.

Among them were the super hero Huang Jiguang who blocked the enemy's machine gun with his chest, the super hero Yang Gensi who rushed towards the enemy with a dynamite bag, and the first class hero Qiu Shaoyun who burned his body without exposing the lurking target...

The 70-year-old Rao Zhenggang made a special trip to visit his father’s grave from other places. His father, Rao Huitan, Chief of Staff of the 23rd Army of the Volunteer Army, was buried here.

On the 25th, he will carry out a collective sacrifice in the cemetery along with the families of other martyrs who came from all over the country.

The Martyrs Memorial Hall in the cemetery exhibits a large number of historical pictures and precious cultural relics, including a number of relics, including book boxes, kerosene lamps, and abacus used by Martyr Ran Xubi during his lifetime.

"We will not let down the expectations of the families of the martyrs, and will continue to collect and protect the relics of the martyrs, so that these red cultural relics can play a greater educational role." According to the staff of the Cemetery Cultural Relics Management Section, they have collected more than 200 items from all over the country in the past two years. The precious cultural relics of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea will be displayed to the public one after another.
