The industry has long had a skewed distribution between women and men and the change is slow.

Has worked with standards

For the past 15 years, the company Indexator in Vindeln has been focusing on gender equality.

Economic fluctuations and occasionally the need for more staff meant that people began to actively look at how to get more women into the industry.

Today, 40 percent in the assembly are women and the same number is in the management team.

- There used to be a picture that it was so much heavy lifting that required men.

When we gradually began to review the work environment, it became better for both men and women, says Engström.

Less "old talk"

Indexator has around 120 employees.

In total, 27 percent are women.

- It's a nice spirit and a little less "old talk" here, says Lina Juslin who works with product care.

Every month, the company has a meeting where they discuss a dilemma - the month's philosophy question.

For example, it could be about talking to each other about how to deal with different situations or if someone says something that offends.

- It would not hurt if there were even more girls, says Linda Persson who is a fitter.

Nominated for a gender equality award

The company is now nominated for the Swedish Gender Equality Award for 2022. A total of 32 companies are nominated.

Indexator has previously received a gender equality award in its own industry.
