According to Reuters, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) stated that on the evening of the 24th local time, Hurricane Rick brought strong storms and rain in parts of Mexico’s Pacific coast, and its center was moving towards the country. The seaside resort of Acapulco is approaching.

  According to reports, as of 22:00 local time on the 24th, "Rick" had reached 100 kilometers south of Zihuatanejo in Guerrero State. Its maximum sustained wind speed was 150 kilometers per hour, and it was moving at 9 kilometers per hour. The speed moves northward.

  NHC estimates that the hurricane center will make landfall later in the morning on the 25th local time, and many places from Guerrero to Michoacan will be affected.

  NHC said that parts of Guerrero and Michoacán states may experience disasters such as floods and mudslides.

  In response to the imminent landing of "Rick", the Mexican Civil Defense Agency has called on residents of relevant areas to stay indoors as much as possible.

Guerrero State Education Department also stated that courses in coastal areas will be suspended on the 25th local time.

The department also warned that there will be heavy rainfall, strong winds and large waves in parts of the state.

  In addition, a Guerrero state official said that the waves in the Acapulco area and northern areas may be as high as 3 to 4 meters.

Currently, Guerrero, Michoacan, and Colima states have opened shelters in a number of areas that may be affected by the disaster.

  NHC predicts that Hurricane Rick will dissipate on the 26th local time.
