Five years ago, Landskrona-Svalöv Renhållning (LSR) got the idea that pupils in primary schools in the municipalities would help pick plastic in the vicinity of the schools.

- In total, we have probably collected three tonnes and this year we expect another tonne of plastic waste, says Robert Svensson, CEO of LSR.

- We have a very important task in educating the children that we must pick up after ourselves and how important it is, says Stina Hyltmark, deputy principal at the Seminary School in Landskrona.

Plastic, plastic and again plastic

Despite the fact that this year's focus is on littering in the form of various plastic products, other rubbish is also included.

- If the children find something other than plastic, it also goes down in the bag, says Aurora Smajli, a teacher at the Seminary School.

Donate money to charity

Today, there are 78 classes that help with garbage collection and all participating classes receive SEK 1,000 each, which they donate together to an environmental project.

A total of SEK 78,000 will be donated.
