25 October 2021 New, double acquittal for Daniela Poggiali, former nurse accused for the murder of two patients who died in the ward at the Lugo hospital (Ravenna).

The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Bologna in fact acquitted her because the fact does not exist in appeal ter for the death of Rosa Calderoni, 78 who died on April 8, 2014, and also for the case of 94-year-old Massimo Montanari, who died on March 12, 2014, also in Lugo.

In the first case it started from a life sentence, twice reformed by acquittals on appeal, then annulled by as many Cassations. In the second from a sentence of 30 years, in the first degree. In both cases, for the Court, the fact does not exist.

In addition to the two acquittals, the Court of Assizes of Appeal also ordered the immediate release of the former nurse.

The woman will therefore reach Forlì, where she is in custody, and then once she has taken her things, she will be free again, as happened after the first acquittal, in July 2017, at the time after a thousand days in prison.

In the courtroom there were her sister and brother-in-law, who as soon as the Court read the device approached her.

"I'm happy, it could only go like this," he said.
