Bukhalifa stated that 50 years ago, Algeria and other 23 countries advocating peace and justice proposed a draft resolution to restore the legal seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations. It was passed by an overwhelming majority, restoring all the legal rights of New China in the United Nations.
"This is a milestone in the creation of history. New China, which accounts for a quarter of the world's population, returns to the United Nations, making the United Nations the most universal, representative and authoritative intergovernmental international organization." Bukhalifa said.
He said that for 50 years, China has pursued multilateralism, abided by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, actively participated in the resolution of international and regional hotspot issues, and performed outstandingly the responsibilities of permanent members of the Security Council.
