Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan announces “commitment to signed international agreements”

General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, who heads the transitional institutions in Sudan, announced on Monday his country's "commitment" to the "signed international agreements", after declaring a state of emergency in the country and dissolving the Sovereignty Council and the Government, the two institutions consisting of military and civilians that used to share power in the country.

Sudan is one of the four countries that signed a normalization agreement with Israel last year.

In a speech broadcast on television, Al-Burhan affirmed, while protesters in the street were denouncing a coup, his adherence to "complete the democratic transition until handing over the leadership of the state to an elected civilian government."
